My ride into Hurricane Ike!

Friday September 12, 2008

Working in the media, I was able to get the opportunity to fly into Hurricane Ike on September 12, 2008. Here is a short clip from the 9 hour mission into Hurricane Ike.

See another TV station report (wgnotv - abc) that was on the same flight with us. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=auVFudeVF5A

The 53rd Weather Reconnaissance Squadron, known as the Hurricane Hunters of the Air Force Reserve, is one-of-a-kind: the only Department of Defense organization still flying into tropical storms and hurricanes--since 1944. They have ten Lockheed-Martin WC-130J aircraft and crews are part of the 403rd Wing, based at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Mississippi.

Since the story is about to air on WMBB News 13 I will be able to post my stuff on here. Tune to wmbb.com for the live showing of the story... Flight into Ike.  Thursday, Oct. 23rd, 2008
