Level III NEXRAD images from KEVX

To View Data loops you will need to have the latest in Java. Visit Java.com to check to see what version you have. Recommend Version 6, running with latest Internet Explorer. The images below will 95% of the time be from the NEXRAD DoD radar from Elgin Air Force Base, with the radar being located in Red Bay, Florida...the light blue "KEVX" on the images below. These images are obtained using the GrlevelX program (grlevel3). From level III data to level II Dual./Pol when it becomes public.

Radar Legend:

Shear/Mesocyclone Markers:

Left To Right : High to low rotation detected on the radar. Usually a Purple means that a Tornadic Vortex Signature has been thrown up on that individual cell, by the radar computer. Rotation is detected at the lowest tilt on the scan. Possible Tornado could or may have formed? Likely a Tornado Warning will or has been issued. Take necessary precautions to protect life.

Polygon's Legend:

A Red Polygon is a Thunderstorm Warning.
A Purple Polygon is a Tornado Warning.
A Yellow/Orange Polygon is a Special Marine Warning.
Occasionally I will activate what is called the Storm Prediction Center's Outlook for Day 1. This is sometimes green and blue and red polygons over a wide area. This is issued 4 times daily to outline where thunderstorm activity could happen.
